Visionary Series

The motive for Julia's work remains the same whether the subject is the natural world, the cultural world or a mythical world: her goal is to become immersed in the beauty and mystery of the world. Many of the paintings in this series were images seen during meditation or in sacred circle. Firedance was inspired by an image Julia experienced frequently while chanting or meditating within a women's sacred circle. "I would see a vision of women from around the world and throughout time, joyfully dancing around fire sharing their wisdom and power."

Anima/Animas was inspired by an amazing meditative vision of man and woman in perfect balance. Julia shared "neither figure was on top nor bottom, the energy of male and female was in perfect balance, filled with light and color. I do not feel I was able to portray the power and completeness of the vision. I do not think our reality has enough dimensions. For once, a two dimensional canvas was a challenge to express with." Julia plans to explore this experience with future works.
