The Green Treefrog Hyla cinerea opportunistically sits on the Hooded Pitcher Plant Sarracenia minor waiting for a tasty morsel. Both species habitat range is in the Eastern United States; the Hooded Pitcher grows from North Carolina to Florida. The Hooded Pitcher Plant is a passive trap with nectar glands on its inner surface, which attract and intoxicate insects, such as flies, bees, dragonflies, wasps and ants. Insects are unable to escape the pitcher because of downward-pointing hairs. They are assimilated by digestive glands, containing bacteria, at the bottom of the trap.
