Marble Salamander Ambystoma opacion are being studied at
Ginger Bay, South Carolina by David Scott and other
Researchers. The study has been conducted for over 20 years
And is the longest study of its kind. Because the natural history of
Ambystoma opacum at Ginger's Bay has been so well-studied
(including nesting behavior, reproductive behavior, and genetic
structure), researchers are able to develop management plans
and assess risk to the population from a strong ecological data base.
These studies can help understand and possibly help save species
Of amphibians that are disappearing all over the world.
